January 15 - February 19, 2021
Page Gallery is excited to host a youth art exhibition, welcoming children to show art and explore different materials at the gallery this month.
Visit the gallery for an interactive exhibition, including a projected connect-the-dots activity, a collaborative loom project, and an invitation to participate with a painting of your favorite place - open to all youth, toddler through high school. High school students from the Watershed School in Camden completed a collaborative mural project recreating the painting Past Times by Kerry James Marshall.
While the youth art is not for sale, also on display are original artworks from gallery artists below. During this exhibition, Page Gallery will donate 10% of all sales to the AIO food pantry in Rockland, Maine.
High school students from the Watershed School in Camden completed a collaborative mural project recreating the painting Past Times by Kerry James Marshall. Kerry James Marshall’s 1997 painting, Past Times, is a commentary on the exclusion of the black figure from the suburban American landscape and from the canon of Western painting. Divided into 18 sections, each student was assigned their own panel to replicate their part of the image in the medium of their choice, focusing on matching value and color. Panels of collage connect to panels of paint, together making a 6x9’ mural.
