February 1 - 28, 2025
an interactive art show for our community of youth, kindergarten through 12th
Kids of all ages are invited to pick up a free postcard at the gallery, make a drawing, collage, or painting of their NEIGHBOR - a squirrel, person, cat, tree, etc. - and return the finished piece to hang in our Youth Art Show on display from February 1-28. Postcards are available now for pick up at the gallery, and are also distributed through the local schools.
In addition to celebrating the community's young artists, visitors are invited to engage in interactive art projects throughout the exhibition, including an interactive collage of Camden's neighborhoods.
We are hosting Miss Amy from the Camden Public Library for two events at Page Gallery:
Storytime, Saturday, February 15 from 10-11am
Creative Art Afternoon, Thursday, February 20 from 4-5pm
COLLABORATIVE MURAL
The mural project recreates a famous painting, which is divided into 20 sections. Camden Hills High School Students in Carolyn Brown's Big Art Class have each been assigned a panel to replicate their part of the image in the medium of their choice, focusing on matching value and color. Panels of collage connect to panels of paint, together making a large mural - measuring more than 8 feet high and 4 feet wide
This year's mural is after Marguerite Zorach's Land and Development of New England (1935), a seminal painting in the Farnsworth Museum's collection.
Marguerite Zorach (1887-1968) had a home in Georgetown, Maine and was mother to our previous mural artist, Dahlov Ipcar. Read more about Zorach and this spectacular painting here.
