Ray Roberts (b. 1954) grew up among the orange groves of Orange County, California, giving him an enduring affection for the untamed, undeveloped landscape. Roberts graduated from the Orme School, ranch-style boarding school in the Arizona desert with a strong arts program. Roberts has a degree from the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.
Like many successful artists before him, Roberts first pursued a career as an illustrator, establishing a studio in Los Angeles and then Scottsdale, Arizona. He transitioned to a career in fine art in 1992 and has never looked back. He currently teaches figure and landscape workshops across the country and abroad. Ray Roberts and his wife, Peggi Kroll-Roberts, live on a 20-acre ranch in Angels Camp, an old California gold rush town, surrounded by the oak-studded hills.
